Fall 2025 Public Affairs Fellowship (September - December) - PAID
Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls, serving 2 million members worldwide. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the USA’s (GSUSA’s) Public Affairs team represents Girl Scouts within the national government affairs ecosystem of Washington, D.C. and beyond. We assert our position as a key stakeholder on issues related to girls and directed by the Girl Scout mission. We build strategic relationships with Members of Congress, the administration, executive branch agencies, interest groups and coalitions, and other important policy related organizations, to carry out our policy goals and to reinforce the importance of Girl Scouts.
GSUSA’s Public Affairs team also leads GSUSA’s activities in the Global Girl Scouting Movement, including its leadership role and participation in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. This includes Global Girl Scouting advocacy efforts and collaboration across the international Girl Scout/Girl Guide Movement.
This dynamic and substantive fellowship will provide the ideal candidate with an opportunity to promote public policies and research on critical issues facing girls, as well as to mobilize the support of Girl Scout councils and other youth serving organizations in grassroots advocacy. Our legislative agenda focuses on the following advocacy issues: civic education; access to outdoor exploration; financial literacy; girls’ participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); and supporting a thriving nonprofit community.
In addition to general office support duties, specific responsibilities include: research on girl-focused issues, drafting policy memoranda, assisting in the implementation of congressional briefings, helping to create advocacy materials, attending congressional hearings and briefings, developing content for publication and websites, tracking relevant legislation, and participating in various national coalition meetings. Excellent research ability, writing, and verbal communication skills are a must. This will be a hybrid opportunity where the candidate will work both in-person and virtually. This pay rate for this position is $20/hour.
