Position Overview:
Emerson Junior-Senior High School is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic High School Chemistry Teacher to join our science department for the 2025–2026 school year. This full-time, tenure-track position includes teaching college-prep and AP Chemistry in a modern, state-of-the-art laboratory classroom.
This is a great opportunity for experienced educators or career changers pursuing the Alternate Route—our team is ready to support and mentor new teachers as they begin their careers in education.
Responsibilities:
Teach Chemistry and AP Chemistry to high school students using engaging, standards-based lessons
Utilize hands-on labs and experiments to support student learning in a fully renovated lab setting
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Collaborate with science colleagues on curriculum planning, vertical alignment, and instructional strategies
Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and support
Contribute to a positive and inclusive school climate through participation in meetings, events, and professional development
Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey Chemistry Teaching Certificate OR eligibility for Alternate Route certification (support available)
Strong content knowledge in chemistry, lab safety, and scientific inquiry
Interest or experience in teaching AP Chemistry preferred (the course is in its second year)
Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
A passion for science education and student engagement
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $59,700 – $101,950 (based on experience and credentials)
