Position Overview:
Emerson Junior-Senior High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Science Teacher for grades 7–8. The successful candidate will teach science using the Amplify Science program, which combines literacy-rich instruction with hands-on investigations and interactive digital tools.
This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about making science engaging and accessible to all students. Alternate Route candidates are encouraged to apply—we are committed to supporting new teachers.
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging science instruction to students in grades 7–8 using the Amplify Science program
Facilitate hands-on labs, group investigations, and evidence-based discussions aligned to NGSS standards
Create a classroom environment that fosters inquiry, collaboration, and critical thinking
Monitor student learning through ongoing assessment and provide timely, constructive feedback
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and curriculum planning
Participate in school-wide professional development, team meetings, and community-building events
Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey Teacher of Science Certification (Middle School or K–12) OR eligibility for Alternate Route certification (support available)
Experience or familiarity with Amplify Science preferred but not required
Strong understanding of NGSS-aligned instruction and inquiry-based learning
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Enthusiasm for working with middle school learners and fostering a love of science
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $59,700 – $101,950 (based on experience and credentials)
