Early Childhood Music Teacher

Early Childhood Music Teacher (Nursery to Grade 2)  Job Description: Part-Time


Saint  Saviour Catholic Academy is searching for a dedicated part-time music teacher to join our team. Saint Saviour Catholic Academy prepares students from Nursery to Grade 8 for higher  education. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices. The candidate will create a stimulating learning environment that encompasses our philosophy of educating the whole child. 

The candidate should be a practicing Catholic and ideally have previous teaching experience and demonstrate excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills. Experience teaching early childhood preferred. 

The position begins in September 2025, with a competitive salary based on experience. Teacher Role: 

As a music teacher, you will be required to deliver lessons that support the growth of our youngest students through movement and music learning tasks. Nursery through Kindergarten students focus primarily on music readiness skills (high-low, loud-soft, fast slow), singing many age-appropriate songs, playing instruments, and playing movement games that reinforce the musical concepts. Kindergarten through second grade classes also introduce solfege and different methods of notation. 

Teacher Responsibilities: 

  • Teach nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students for 30 minutes twice a week. (as many as 5 groups)
  • Teach First and Second Grade students for 45 minutes twice a week (4 groups).
  • Collaborate to plan, prepare, and lead First and Second Grade students to participate in the annual Christmas and Spring Concerts.
  • Collaborate to plan and help prepare Kindergarten Students for the Grand Finale in June.
  • Plan and lead periodic Music Shares for families with students in Pre-K and Kindergarten.

 

Teacher Qualifications

A qualified applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree—Instrumental or Vocal Performance and Music Education are preferred. The applicant will also be able to sing and accompany themselves with basic proficiency on piano, ukulele, or guitar. Familiarity with Kodály or Orff pedagogy is a plus.
