Government Information Specialist (GS 11-12)

These positions are in the Requester Liaison, Programs and Policies and Statutory Compliance and Research Divisions, in the Office of Information Programs and Services, Office of Global Information Services, Bureau of Administration (A/GIS/IPS/RL/PP/CR) in the U.S. Department of State (DOS). Incumbents assist with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, maintain records management programs and program analysis and evaluation. 

Coordinates Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for information regarding litigation and exemptions from full or partial disclosure, confidential business information, appeals of denials and fee waivers. Reviews FOIA responses to insure proper coordination, regulatory compliance and responsiveness to the request. Develops, recommends, and implements improvements to operation and administration of the regional FOIA program. Recommends, develops, and monitors programmatic/operational performance metrics, and analyzes such data to identify slippages and impact. Monitors and maintains a stable and established records management programs for major multi-functional regional level organizations.
