School Psychologist- Stillwater/Sweetgrass Cooperative

Position: Two School Psychologist Positions
Salary: $49,680- $81,373 DOE
Closing Date: Until Filled

Job Description: 
Full time employment for both positions at 1.0 FTE starting 2022-2023 school year. Excellent single insurance provided, including dental and vision. Cooperative car provided.

The Stillwater/Sweet Grass Special Services Cooperative serves 7 school districts and 5 county schools. The Cooperative’s office is based in Columbus, Mt, just a short drive from Billings, MT, and Yellowstone National Park. The area we serve is rich in wildlife and there are many outdoor recreational activities to enjoy. The Beartooth and Crazy Mountains, along with small towns nestled near the Stillwater, Yellowstone and Boulder rivers, create a breath-taking view for those of us who live and work here. 

The Cooperative employs 4 speech-language pathologists, 2 school psychologists, an occupational therapist, an itinerant special education teacher and a director. The business manager and physical therapist services are provided on a contractual basis.

STILLWATER/SWEET GRASS COOPERATIVE 
JOB DESCRIPTION 

POSITION TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
1. Master's Degree in School Psychology
2. Montana Certification Class 6 

REPORTS TO: Cooperative Director 

JOB GOAL: The School Psychologist is a professional with a specialized knowledge regarding social, emotional, cognitive, physical, language, academic and psycho-motor forces in children which affect the learning processes. The primary objective is the application of this specialized knowledge to ameliorate school-related problems & facilitate learning and development in children. 

DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES: 
1. Identifies and assesses the learning, development and adjustment characteristics and needs of individual and groups as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions.
2. Provides interventions to students to support teaching processes and maximize 
learning potential.
3. Selects assessment procedures according to reasons for referral and diagnostic 
date needed.
4. Possesses assessment knowledge and skills in the areas of academic, social and 
behavioral functioning.
5. Conducts interviews with students, teachers, and parents as a regular part of the assessment. Conduct classroom observations as indicated.
6. Applies the data from assessment procedures and develops hypotheses relative to instructional and educational planning and program eligibility and placement.
7. To help assist students in developing effective ways to retain and process information and also develop self-monitoring strategies, through regular contact/counseling.
8. Provide consultation to parents, teachers, and other personnel and community agencies to enhance student learning and adjustment.
9. Assists in planning, development, and evaluation of program to meet identified learning and adjustment needs.
10. Delivers a planned coordinated system of psychological services.
11. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
12. Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill.
13. Provide behavioral intervention/behavioral plans and provide direct support for implementation and progress.
14. Maintain and update testing inventories as new and revised assessment tools become available. 15. Provides the needed documentation to allow the Cooperative to bill Medicaid for Medicaid eligible students.
16. Participates in Child Find Clinics as assigned by the Director.
17. Maintains confidentiality for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents and school district. 18. Keep school administrators informed of activities in each district being served.
