Program Associate, Youth Development

The Association to Benefit Children’s Study Buddies Connect program is accepting applications for a Program Associate. This position is hybrid, full-time (35 hours/week) starting in August/September 2022 and is based in Harlem.

About Study Buddies Connect: SBC is a program of ABC that provides free, individualized virtual tutoring to students ages 5-18 living in East Harlem and the South Bronx by pairing volunteer mentors with ABC students. In this time of severe learning loss, especially for low-income Black and Brown students, SBC is rapidly evolving in dynamic ways to meet the needs and demands of our community.

About the Program Associate position: We are seeking a Program Associate who is passionate, empathetic, and has creative ideas about serving our students and families. The role combines family advocacy, tutoring, program development, and administrative duties.
Salary range is $40,000-$45,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities of the Program Associate:
  • Curriculum development and pedagogical support:
  • Interview, screen, and train new tutors, as well as offer ongoing educational support to our tutor base through regular check-ins.
  • Develop curriculum for individualized and group sessions based on test results.
  • Tutor new students prior to pairing with a volunteer tutor
  • Data collection, management, and analysis:
  • Monitor attendance, collect student report cards, and assess children’s academic levels.
  • Analyze children’s academic data to understand our impact & our children’s overall areas of strengths and weaknesses. Use this information for curriculum development to facilitate children’s academic growth.

Qualifications of the Program Associate:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Strong aptitude for working with families and youth and high degree of cultural sensitivity.
Strong understanding of K-8 mathematics and willingness to learn curriculum design.
  • Computer proficiency and comfort using technology.
