Government Information Specialist, GS 07-09

This position is located in the Office of Information Program and Services, Office of Global Information Services, Bureau of Administration (A/GIS/IPS), in the U.S. Department of State. The positions carry out duties and responsibilities associated with acting on Freedom of Information Act requests for Departmental information, maintaining organizations’ records management programs and performing related program analysis, evaluation and assessments functions and activities.


Duties

Responds to routine Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests involving multiple programs and offices.

Carries out select portions of organizational/ programmatic assessments to improve the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, and similar management functions.

Supports resolution of routine problems involving the development of records management systems, e.g. conversion from paper to electronic, automated retrieval, archiving and storage systems, etc.

Delivers elements of training and briefings on FOIA and Privacy Act policies, regulations, and procedures.

Integrates elements of program financial, technical, procurement, and scheduling information with performance metrics and results to provide management with comprehensive reports and recommendations to enhance programs and operations.
