Time Commitment: September 15, 2025 - August 14, 2026
This is a full-time, 11-month, 1700-hour program from September 15, 2025 - August 14, 2026. Fellows commit to a 40-hour work week, typically Monday - Friday approximately 7:30am - 4:30pm, with occasional evening and weekend commitments based on project needs. 175+ of these hours are dedicated to professional development.
**Please note: Due to the full-time commitment of the Program, students enrolled in undergraduate courses between Sep 15, 2025 - Aug 14, 2026 will not be eligible to participate in the California Climate Action Corps Program.

About the California Climate Action Corps Fellowship
The California Climate Action Corps has over 400 positions available across California for the 2025-26 CCAC Fellowship. This is a climate-focused, workforce development program for emerging climate and environmental leaders. These are paid, full-time fellowships—similar to internships—but with over 175 dedicated hours for professional development and training while receiving hands-on experience in the climate field.
CCAC Fellows are matched with organizations across California to mobilize communities to take direct climate action and lead projects focused on wildfire resiliency, urban greening, and organic waste diversion and edible food recovery.

Program Benefits
The City of Clovis offers an exciting and unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable hands-on experience in professional training, community engagement, and climate action. Climate Action Associates will collaborate with a variety of local organizations and City departments to increase climate action efforts throughout our community. Receive extensive support to develop and refine leadership skills and expand professional networks for success post-Fellowship. Other benefits include:
- Receive up to $35,000 stipend (before taxes) distributed evenly over the 11-month service term

Description of Duties
The City of Clovis is advancing a community-centered approach to food recovery and organic waste diversion, and we’re looking for passionate Climate Action Associates to lead the charge. Associates will play a pivotal role in supporting neighbors facing food insecurity by facilitating food redistribution efforts, educating local businesses and residents on sustainable waste practices, and strengthening community partnerships. This hands-on, people-first opportunity places fellows at the intersection of environmental action and social equity—mobilizing volunteers, building capacity, and helping create greener, more connected neighborhoods. With direct involvement across Public Utilities divisions and collaboration with churches, schools, and community centers, Associates will be at the heart of impactful initiatives that bring climate action to life at the local level. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Recruit and coordinate community volunteers to support edible food recovery, organic waste diversion, and the revitalization of local parks and shared spaces
- Coordinate the collection and timely redistribution of edible food by engaging food vendors, businesses, and recovery partners across Clovis
- Implement effective practices to track and enhance organic waste diversion throughout the community, driving measurable progress toward sustainability goals
- Lead dynamic presentations and outreach campaigns that educate residents, students, and business owners on food waste, waste sorting, and climate-friendly practices
- Foster meaningful partnerships with local organizations, congregations, and small businesses to grow food rescue efforts and deepen community engagement
- Track program data and analyze results to quantify climate impact
Minimum Program Eligibility Requirements
- Live in California by August 15, 2025
- Be at least 18 years of age by August 15, 2025
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a US Citizen, US National, or lawful US resident to participate
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
Experience in Community Outreach, Data/Quantitative Analysis, Edible Food Recovery, Engaging with K-12 students, Event Coordination & Planning, Microsoft Office Suite and Teams, Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration, Project Management, Public Speaking/Facilitation, Technical Writing, Volunteer Management & Engagement, the Ability to lift up to 30 lbs in Diverse Outdoor Conditions (rain, wind, heat, steep or uneven terrain), and Must possess a valid driver’s license. Fluency in Hindi, Hmong, Punjabi, or Spanish is a plus. Other valuable contributions include:
- An interest in climate change mitigation, volunteerism, or public service
- Experience with outreach, education, training, or community behavior change
- Fundamental understanding of climate change science, environmental policies in California, and/or environmental priorities
- Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and speaking skills
About City of Clovis Public Utilities
The Public Utilities Department oversees the successful operations and availability of utilities to all City residents and commercial businesses. The Solid Waste Department, in conjunction with the City's contracted hauler, collaborate to provide refuse services to over 37,000 single-family residences and an estimated 2,500 commercial generators. In addition to collection services, the City's Solid Waste staff ensures the City is compliant with all state regulations concerning solid waste operations including landfill management, waste separation, contamination monitoring, edible food recovery, organic waste procurement, beverage container recycling, and a plethora of other programs established by the State. Interviews will take place May - August, with all positions filled by September 2025. This is a competitive program and interviews are not guaranteed. CCAC is an equal opportunity Fellowship with a preference for candidates already living in the communities they will serve. Applications are for the California Climate Action Corps Program in general, but applicants can select up to 5 preferred organizations and positions within the application.
